Mind Maps 2022-2025

In the Mindmaps series, I have painted with ink onto fabric‑printed copies of old lithographs depicting cities. Cut into fragments, the painted pieces partially reveal the printed images beneath.

The hand‑embroidered routes and paths can be read as literal journeys or as the winding movements of the mind. I embroider directly onto the surface without preliminary sketches. The image develops through the act of making, documenting passing emotions and thoughts in the moment.

I am drawn to greyness and to autumn—to transition, to decay, to November. As color diminishes, its significance grows. Subtle tonal differences intensify, and perception sharpens. At the same time, greyness offers a place of rest: no color attacks or demands attention with loud urgency.
